Growing up in rural Manitoba, I had a wide range of influences. I was raised on everything from Buddy Guy to Blue Rodeo and Eric Clapton to Great Big Sea - music has always been a huge part of my life. After taking piano lessons for several years I started to learn guitar, wanting to play like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page. Later on, I started to take interest in learning as many instruments as I could. This would come in handy when recording my first EP, on which I performed everything but the brass instruments on the final track.
These days, my regular listening includes Folk, Pop, Roots, Rock, Shoegaze, and othes genres, but is mostly dominated by solo folk singers. I am constantly trying to discover new artists to model myself after, learn from, and from whom to draw inspiration. Some of my favourites include Donovan Woods, Joey Landreth, City and Colour, Julien Baker, and Dermot Kennedy. My tastes and inspiration vary, but what remains consistent is the comfort that I find in music and my passion for sharing stories through singing.
